Carlson Companies promotes Joe Dehler to VP, Business Process Improvement

Minneapolis, MN (May 23, 2003) - Carlson Companies has promoted Joe Dehler, a Six Sigma master black belt, to vice president, business process improvement.

Dehler joined Carlson Companies in 2000. His work has included the launch and implementation of the Six Sigma quality-management philosophy that helps companies achieve strategic business results. He has helped organizations such as Ceridian and Computing Devices International with process reengineering and process management.

In his new position, Dehler will work directly with Carlson Companies' Executive Committee and its Greatwork Leadership Council. He will continue to report to the chief financial officer and the chief information officer.

Dehler serves on the advisory boards for the Juran Center at the University of Minnesota's Carlson School of Management and the Mayberry Center of Excellence at Tennessee Technical University's College of Business Administration.

Dehler and his wife Betsy live in Woodbury, Minnesota.
