Carlson Hotels Worldwide Adds 74 Hotels to its Global Portfolio in 2007- Reports Record Systemwide Revenues

Carlson Hotels Worldwide today announced strong growth and financial results for 2007, adding a total of 74 hotels to its five brands globally and achieving record systemwide revenues of nearly $7 billion, a 13 percent increase over the previous year. The year was highlighted by major global initiatives including a significant new investment in the Rezidor Hotel Group which operates four of the company's brands in Europe, the Middle East and Africa (EMEA). Carlson now owns 41.7 percent of Rezidor.
Other highlights of the year included the worldwide launch of a new generation guest reward program, goldpoints plus, the rollout of a new revenue optimization program that has spurred record financial performance and the announcement of a strategic alliance with Lotus Hotel Investment Fund to set up a new US$1 billion private equity fund to grow the company's brands in China, India, Thailand and other key Asia Pacific destinations.
Of special note in the company's 2007 global expansion are several showcase properties including The Regent Palms, a preeminent luxury resort in Turks & Caicos in the British West Indies; a destination Radisson resort on Denarau Island in Fiji; a high style Radisson SAS hotel in Marseille, France, and a contemporary new Radisson Edwardian hotel in London's burgeoning New Providence Wharf business district.
At year end, the company added eight new hotels in December, including Radisson properties in Lubbock, Texas; and Jamestown, N.Y.; Country Inn & Suites By Carlsonsm hotels in Goa, India; and Valparaiso, Ind.; Park Inn® hotels in Hamburg, Germany; St. Helens, England; and Montreal, Canada; and a Park Plaza in Bangkok, Thailand. Carlson hotel brands also include Regent Hotels & Resorts. Carlson's worldwide portfolio now totals 969 hotels with 146,000 rooms in 70 countries.

"We are focused on growing a high quality portfolio of owned, managed and licensed hotels worldwide. In 2008, we expect to open our 1,000th hotel, a landmark event in our continuing expansion. We have 145 new agreements signed globally in 2007 and more than 270 hotels under various phases of development around the world."
Radisson Hotels & Resorts
The newest Radisson hotels include the Radisson Hotel Lubbock Downtown in Texas, owned by Lubbock Investments LLC, and the Radisson Hotel Jamestown in New York, owned by KaanAm LLC. With the addition of these two hotels, Radisson's global portfolio currently includes 398 hotels with 87,980 guestrooms.
With a prime location one block from the Lubbock Memorial Civic Center and minutes from shopping and entertainment, the 145-room Radisson Hotel Lubbock Downtown features 6,465 of meeting and event space.
The Radisson Hotel Jamestown also features many guestroom amenities, in addition to a hotel pool and whirlpool. The hotel offers flexible space that can accommodate up to 140 people for meetings or social events. Jamestown is located in the southwest corner of New York State and is famously known as the hometown of Lucille Ball.
Country Inns & Suites By Carlson
Country Inns & Suites By Carlson added two new locations in December, the Country Inns & Suites Goa in India; and the Country Inns & Suites Valparaiso in Indiana, owned by Suman Das. With the addition of these two new hotels the brand currently consists of 436 hotels and 34,866 guestrooms.
Other new locations in 2007 include the new 83-room Country Inn & Suites By Carlson in Shoreview, Minn., owned by Hospitality Investors, LLC and the new 100-room Country Inn & Suites By Carlson in Pineville, La., owned by H.L. & H. Holding Company, Inc. Both hotels feature the brand's new interior design package that includes a contemporary color palate throughout the hotel and upgraded bedding in the guestrooms.
The Country Inns & Suites in Shoreview is the first hotel in Minnesota to unveil the new interior design package. The hotel also features an indoor pool with waterslide and kiddy pool, a whirlpool and an on-site fitness room with cardio and strength equipment. Other amenities include a lobby convenience store, complimentary deluxe continental breakfast and a business center featuring a meeting room for up to 85 people.
The Country Inns & Suites in Pineville is connected to the Pineville Convention Center, offering 6,665 square feet of meeting space with the ability to seat 800 people. In addition to the convention center, the Country Inn & Suites in Pineville has a business center and two small meeting rooms in the hotel. The hotel also features an outdoor pool, outdoor heated whirlpool, on-site fitness center and complimentary deluxe continental breakfast.
The Rezidor Hotel Group opened two new Park Inn locations last month, the Park Inn St. Helen's in England-located midway between Manchester and Liverpool-and the Park Inn Hamburg Nord in Germany. A third Park Inn was added in Canadathe Park Inn & Suites Montreal Airport. These three new hotels increase the Park Inn portfolio to include 87 hotels and 14,693 guestrooms worldwide.
The Park Inn & Suites Montreal Airport in Quebec offers 186 guestrooms, including two studio suites and three one-bedroom suites. The hotel has meeting space to comfortably accommodate groups from 10 to 200 people. The property is minutes from downtown and offers complimentary shuttle service to nearby Pierre Elliott Trudeau Airport.
The Park Inn brand's expansion in Canada is expected to continue with the anticipated opening in early 2008 of the 58-room Park Inn Toronto in Woodbine, Ont. The Rezidor Hotel Group also anticipates sustained momentum for the brand in 2008 with the February's planned opening for a 134-room Park Inn Voronezh in the Russian Federation.
Park Plaza Hotels & Resorts
Park Plaza Hotels & Resorts added its first hotel in Thailand in December, bringing the brand to a global presence of 41 properties and 6,505 guestrooms. The new Park Plaza Sukhumvit Bangkok offers a superb location in the heart of Bangkok's business district and spacious facilities for both business and leisure travelers. The 95-room boutique hotel's sleek and contemporary rooms provide guests with state-of-the-art amenities. Regent Hotels & Resorts
Regent Hotels & Resorts continues to expand its presence in the Asia/Pacific region with opening of The Regent Phuket Cape Panwa in Phuket, Thailand in March 2009. Regent's first resort in Thailand will be located on the south-eastern tip of Phuket Island, on a pristine beach near the Andaman Sea. The 48-terrace rooms, 22 deluxe villas, 35 pool villas and one presidential villa will all feature private ocean-view balconies. Resort amenities will include a 180-foot swimming pool, tennis court and a fully-equipped health center and expansive spa.
Regent will open another Asian property, The Regent Maldives, on Maalefushi Island in October 2008. Additional 2008 openings will include The Regent Boston at Battery Wharf, and The Regent Bal Harbour, the first hotel to open in Florida's exclusive Bal Harbour Village in more than 50 years.
Regent will open a second property in Thailand, The Regent Bangkok, in 2009, and 2010 plans include the opening of The Regent Papagayo in Costa Rica and The Regent Emirates Pearl in the United Arab Emirates. Other new Regent Hotels & Resorts in the region include two award-winning properties in China: The Regent Beijing and The Regent Shanghai.
