Carlson Hotels Adds Eight New Properties to its Global Portfolio in November
Minneapolis, MN | December 21, 2007
Carlson Hotels Worldwide today announced the addition of eight new locations to its global portfolio during November 2007. The new hotels include one Radisson SAS property in the United Kingdom's Channel Islands; five Country Inn & Suites By Carlsonsm hotels in the United States; and two Park Inn® hotels -one in the Sheffield, England, and one in Sharm El Sheikh, Egypt. Carlson's worldwide portfolio now totals 964 hotels with 146,509 rooms in 70 countries. Carlson hotel brands also include Regent Hotels & Resorts and Park Plaza® Hotels & Resorts.
"Our development momentum continues to be strong as we are nearing the end of 2007," said Jay Witzel, president and CEO of Carlson Hotels Worldwide. "Since the beginning the year, we have added 70 hotels, along with 134 new hotels signed globally. Our brands are expanding in both new and existing markets, providing our customers more choices worldwide. We look forward to accelerating our growth in 2008," he added.
This year, Carlson Hotels Worldwide continues to report significant RevPAR gains resulting from the roll-out of a new industry leading revenue optimization program that focuses on revenue management and forecasting. October year-to-date, Carlson's Radisson brand continues to achieve RevPAR growth in the United States which outperformed the Smith Travel Research Upscale Chain segment as published in their monthly U.S. Lodging Review report.
Country Inns & Suites By Carlson
With the addition of five new Country Inns & Suites By Carlson, the brand currently consists of 434 hotels and 34,682 guestrooms. All of the new properties are located in the U.S., and include the 89-room Country Inns & Suites By Carlson in Dover, Del.; the 80-room Country Inns & Suites By Carlson in Dayton, Ohio, owned by CESI, LLC; the Country Inns & Suites By Carlson in Panama City Beach, Fla., with 83 guestrooms, owned by Shri Gautam Swami, Inc.; the 100-room Country Inns & Suites By Carlson in Pineville, La., owned by H.L. & H. Holding Company, Inc; and the Country Inns & Suites By Carlson in Shoreview, Minn., with 83 guestrooms, owned by Hospitality Investors, LLC. The five new hotels all feature traditional brand design elements, including hardwood floors and a fireplace in the grand lobby.
Radisson SAS Hotels & Resorts
Located on Jersey in the United Kingdom's Channel Islands, the new 195-room Radisson SAS Waterfront Hotel sits close to the popular waterfront promenade and is within close proximity of the financial district and the town center. The hotel offers an excellent marina location and stunning views from the hotel rooms, restaurants and bars.
Guestrooms are equipped with high-quality amenities such as flat panel LCD televisions and individual climate control. For meetings, the hotel houses five modern and flexible meeting rooms as well as a business center. The hotel is among the first in Jersey to provide a smoke-free environment across the hotel's public areas, guest rooms, meeting facilities, restaurants and bars.

With the addition of the new Radisson SAS Waterfront Hotel, Radisson's global portfolio currently includes 398 hotels with 88,383 guestrooms.
The Rezidor Hotel Group opened two new Park Inn locations last month - the Park Inn Sharm El Sheikh in Sharm El Sheikh, Egypt, and the Park Inn Sheffield in South Yorkshire, England.
The Park Inn Sharm El Sheikh Resort is situated on the southern tip of the Sinai Peninsula overlooking the white sand beaches of the Nabq area. It is the first Park Inn resort in the Rezidor portfolio. The guestrooms at the 401-room resort were completely renovated in 2003, and the property houses two swimming pools, a kid's club, an extensive Aqua Park, an indoor Jacuzzi®, a whirlpool and a fully-equipped health club with saunas, steam rooms, massage and beauty treatments. Sharm El Sheikh International Airport is 10 minutes away.The new Park Inn Sheffield offers 111 modern and comfortable guestrooms and is located in South Yorkshire, England, just minutes from Sheffield's city center. The hotel is equipped with high-speed Internet access in all guestrooms and offers ample parking. The Picasso Restaurant and Bar is an all-day dining restaurant offering brasserie-style dishes in a relaxing atmosphere, and Sheffield's downtown is just a few minutes away.
These two new hotels increase the Park Inn portfolio to include 89 hotels and 14,315 guestrooms worldwide.
Regent Hotels & Resorts Global Expansion Continues Through 2010
Regent Hotels & Resorts global expansion continues with the opening of its first hotel in France, The Regent Bordeaux, in early 2008. Designed by the world-renowned interior designer Jacques Garcia, the property is exemplary of Regent's commitment to developing luxury hotels in the most desirable locations. The 150-room Regent Bordeaux will be situated in the heart of the Golden Triangle shopping district, an area that has undergone extensive development in the last few years.
