Radisson Expands Western Presence with First Edmonton Hotel

Carlson Hotels Worldwide has announced the opening of its newest Canadian hotel today, the 235-room Radisson Hotel Edmonton South. this is the first Radisson hotel in the City of Edmonton and complements the coast-tocoast offering of upper-end Radisson hotels across Canada.
The Radisson Hotel Edmonton South, on Edmonton's popular South Side, has a strong reputation in the meeting and convention circles as well as being perfectly situated for leisure travellers. The hotel is currently undergoing a $5.3 million renovation. Already finished is a complete refurbishing of all guest rooms. Refurbishing of banquet and meeting space, food and beverage outlets, public areas and lobby are currently underway.

The Radisson Hotel Edmonton South is located approximately 15 minutes from Edmonton International Airport, the University of Alberta and downtown Edmonton. It is situated on Gateway Boulevard, the main thoroughfare heading north into the heart of downtown Edmonton. For those looking to have a bit of fun during their visit, Edmonton boasts world class golf courses, shopping, the Valley Zoo, Fort Edmonton, the historic Old Strathcona District, and the West Edmonton Mall, the world's largest shopping and entertainment complex. Edmonton is also known as Canada's 'Festival City', hosting more than 30 annual festivals throughout the year. Most rooms boast the Sleep Number Bed by Select Comfort, which uses uniquely designed air chambers to provide a gentle cushion of support and can easily be adjusted to personal preference for comfort and firmness. Each bed is accessorized with an upscale customized linen set, which includes white 250-thread count sheets, plush feather and down sleeping pillows and cases and a luxurious duvet. Additional room amenities include complimentary high-speed internet access, work desks with ergonomic chairs, two telephones, including cordless phone, (local calls are free of charge) flat-screen TVs, in-room movies, AM/FM radios, in-room coffee, and hair dryers. The Radisson Hotel Edmonton South has more than 33,000 square feet of versatile function space ideal for trade shows, conventions, corporate meetings, special occasions, and social events from two to 1,000 guests. Facilities include 17 separate function rooms, high-speed Internet lines, and web casting capability.

For those wanting to stay fit, the hotel boasts a 23,000 sq. ft. Fitness and Racquet Club on its premises. Complimentary for hotel guests, facilities include treadmills, elliptical trainers, stair climbers, stationary bikes, an indoor running track, weight equipment, squash and racquetball courts, a saltwater swimming pool, whirlpool and sauna.
The dining experience...
The beautiful Atrium Café is the heart of this courtyard style hotel. Breakfast, lunch and dinner are prepared by award-winning chefs. A spectacular Sunday Brunch is served every Sunday and is a local favourite. The Lionshead Pub, in traditional English style, has 16 draught beers to choose from, live entertainment and a casual dining menu. Of course, for those who would like to go 'low key' 24-hour room service is available.
