Balagna named president & CEO at Carlson Marketing
Minneapolis, MN | February 03, 2009
Carlson President and CEO Hubert Joly today named Jeff Balagna president & chief executive officer of Carlson Marketing Worldwide, the global marketing services agency of Carlson. Balagna had served as interim president and ceo for the last eight months.
"Jeff's work over the past couple of years both as interim president and as a Carlson Marketing board member has shown his capacity to lead this business," said Joly. "He has significantly grown the business unit in 2008 and brought customer satisfaction to record levels and effectively positioned the business for the future."
With more than 27 years of experience, Balagna is a seasoned executive with broad general management experience in multiple industries. For the past three and a half years, he has served as an executive vice president of Carlson and is a member of the Carlson executive committee. He is a Board member of Carlson Wagonlit Travel, Carlson Restaurants, and Carlson Marketing Worldwide.
Before joining Carlson, Balagna served as chief administrative officer at Medtronic, the world's largest medical device company for four and a half years, where he managed global and quality operations, oversaw the creation of a shared services organization, and served as the company's first chief information officer.
Prior to Medtronic, he was with General Electric as general manager-operations of its USD 4 billion Medical Systems Americas division. He has also served as an executive at Ford Motor Company, and was the founder and CEO of DataComm, Inc.
Balagna is also active in the community, as he currently serves as a board and audit committee member of Tennant Company, Inc., is an Executive in Residence at The Carlson School of Management, and is a past board member of Minnesota Public Radio, and the Minnesota Orchestra.
Division presidents named
Carlson Marketing has long been regarded as an industry leader in loyalty marketing, engagement and events. To strengthen its emphasis on these disciplines, Fay Beauchine and Andy Wright were named presidents of the company's two divisions. Beauchine is now president, Engagement & Events, while Wright is president, Brand Loyalty.
Each had been executive vice presidents of those business units. Both serve on the Carlson Marketing Executive Committee and report directly to Jeff Balagna.
Prior to joining Carlson Marketing in 2007, Beauchine was senior vice president, enterprise strategic account management for Carlson and vice president of sales and customer care for Northwest Airlines. She currently is president of the National Business Travel Association Foundation and vice president of the Society of Incentive Travel Executives Foundation (Site).
With nearly 30 years of marketing experience, Wright had been president of Direct Marketing for Euro RSCG 4D before joining Carlson Marketing in 2005. He has also held executive positions with Brann Worldwide and CACI, Inc.
