Radisson® Hotels & Resorts Launches Short Feature Films to Promote "Friday is Freeday"

Minneapolis, MN | June 11, 2009

Inspired by an empathetic Radisson hotel front desk clerk, a young boy embarks on a summer-long campaign to turn Friday into "Freeday" in a new video series created by Radisson® Hotels & Resorts. The series launches today at www.fridayisfreeday.com as part of the Radisson summer promotion called Friday is Freeday, which offers guests a free Friday night with the purchase of a Thursday or Saturday night stay from now until Sept. 15.

The light-hearted, free-spirited videos follow the journey of eight-year-old Freddy, who discovers his "superhero powers" during a weekend family getaway at a Radisson hotel. As the series continues, Fantastic Freddy continues to use his new found powers to foster goodwill during the rest of his summer vacation. The first in the series, "Freddy Frees Friday," is a 7.5 minute short film that introduces Freddy, and tells the tale of how he arrived at his benevolent powers. Subsequent home-movie style videos in the series document Freddy's real-world interactions with unsuspecting beneficiaries.

"Fantastic Freddy's summer adventure tells a 'pay it forward' story we can all relate to, and maybe more importantly, also participate in," said Baron Carr, vice president of marketing for Radisson Hotels & Resorts. "We believe these creative, light-hearted videos help bring the Radisson brand and the Friday is Freeday promotion to life, and we hope they bring a smile to anyone who sees them."

The "Freddy Frees Friday" short feature film was shot on location in Minnesota at the Radisson Hotel Bloomington by Mall of America and the Radisson Plaza Hotel in downtown Minneapolis. Fantastic Freddy is the first starring role for Soren Schramm, an 8-year-old actor from Arden Hills, Minn. Nina, the empathetic Radisson hotel front desk clerk, is played by Lindsey Hartley, an actress with the renowned Children's Theatre Company in Minneapolis. The short film was directed by Andy Dahm, a graduate student at the University of Southern California School of Cinematic Arts. It was written by Brent Boyd, a Hollywood-based screenwriter, whose feature film credits include "Aurora Borealis" and "Crazy." The short film and videos were produced by Fast Horse, a Minneapolis-based consumer marketing agency.

The Fantastic Freddy series will be released throughout the summer, and can be found at www.fridayisfreeday.comand also offers details of Radisson's Friday is Freeday summer promotion.
