Known as one of the most hippest places on earth and European Capital of Culture 2010, Istanbul has a long and illustrious history with a rich architectural and cultural heritage visitors still can discover. It has served as the capital city of the Roman Empire, the Eastern Roman (Byzantine) Empire, the Latin Empire, and the Ottoman Empire.
