Paris | October 21, 2010
Carlson Wagonlit Travel (CWT), a global leader specializing in business travel management, has named three of its senior-ranking executives to new positions on a global or regional level, the company announced today.
Nick Vournakis, senior vice president and general manager for CWT Canada, has been appointed vice president, CWT Solutions Group, Global and is responsible for leading the company’s consulting division worldwide. Emmanuel Guirado, formerly vice president Traveler & Transaction Services (TTS) EMEA (Europe, Middle East, Africa), is now vice president, Global Partners Network. In his new position, he manages the company’s independently owned partners in 110 countries and territories. Peter Ashworth has been promoted from senior director TTS to vice president TTS EMEA and is responsible for operations throughout the region.
Mr. Vournakis joined CWT in 2000. He has held a variety of positions in North America, including director, CWT Air Solutions and vice president, CWT Solutions Group, North America. Over the last three years, as senior vice president and general manager for CWT Canada, he was a member of the North American Executive Council and served as executive sponsor for CWT environmental initiatives in the region. He will remain at the helm of CWT Canada until his successor has been named. In his new position, Mr. Vournakis, a U.S. citizen, reports to Cathy Voss, executive vice president, Global Program Solutions. He will be based in Minneapolis, Minnesota. Before joining CWT, Mr. Vournakis was a consultant at Ernst & Young Management Consulting.
Mr. Guirado has been with CWT since 2007, when he assumed responsibility for TTS operations in EMEA. A French national with vast experience in travel management and tourism, he’s held positions at Havas Voyages and Wagons-Lits Tourisme and was instrumental in bringing e-commerce to travel. He is active in many industry organizations, including The European Travel Agents’ and Tour Operators’ Associations. Based in Paris, Mr. Guirado reports to Håkan Ericsson, president, EMEA, Latin America & Global Partners Network.
Mr. Ashworth was hired by CWT in 1998 to manage a service center in the Netherlands. He has also held TTS responsibilities in several European countries. A Dutch national with South African roots, Mr. Ashworth worked for an independent travel company in the Netherlands before joining CWT. He is now based in Paris and reports to Håkan Ericsson and Berthold Trenkel, executive vice president TTS.
Commenting on these appointments, Douglas Anderson, president & CEO, said: “Carlson Wagonlit Travel is committed to delivering efficient and innovative solutions that enable our clients to optimize their travel and meetings and events programs.
