Carlson Hotels strengthens Asia Pacific organization with key regional appointments

Singapore | April 11, 2011

Carlson, a global hospitality and travel company, today announced a number of key regional appointments to its hotels business in Asia Pacific. The three senior appointments demonstrate the company’s growing investments in talent capabilities and its commitment to the Asia Pacific business, as part of Carlson’s Ambition 2015 growth strategy.

Lucinda Semark joins the company as executive vice president, revenue generation, Carlson Hotels, Asia Pacific. Semark is an experienced marketer who has held senior marketing and sales roles in the hospitality and finance sectors. She is part of the regional leadership team and will oversee the strategic management of the marketing, public relations, revenue optimization and sales functions. Semark commenced her new role on March 23, 2011.

Semark was previously senior vice president, marketing at Marina Bay Sands in Singapore where she successfully marketed the opening and establishment of the integrated resort, comprising over 2,500 hotel rooms and a casino complex.

Deborah Peterson has been appointed director, human resources, Carlson Hotels, Asia Pacific. She will drive the company’s human resources strategy by creating talent management and recruitment capability. Peterson joined Carlson on April 4, 2011 and previously headed a coaching and human capital development consultancy. Her background includes regional human resources management with an international hotel company and a food and beverage company.

Malene Horup has been promoted to director, talent, Carlson Hotels, Asia Pacific. She will spearhead initiatives aimed at attracting, developing and retaining talent. Her promotion reflects Carlson Hotels’ emphasis on people development as the company continues to expand its presence in Asia Pacific.

“These three appointments are important to our success as we grow our business in the region. Lucinda’s marketing and sales expertise is a powerful asset in strategically promoting our hotel brands and accelerating revenue performance,” said Simon C. Barlow, president, Carlson Hotels, Asia Pacific.

“The further strengthening of our human resources team, quickly following the appointment of Rosie Hollis as human resources executive vice president for Carlson Hotels in Asia Pacific, supports our goal of becoming the number one hotel company to work for, as part of Carlson’s Ambition 2015 strategy,” added Barlow.
