CWTSatoTravel Awarded FedRooms Contract for Third Consecutive Term

CWTSatoTravel has been awarded a new contract by the U.S. General Services Administration (GSA) to continue operating the FedRooms program for the U.S. government, with renewal options through September 2019. FedRooms, the only government-wide, government sponsored lodging program, has been serviced by CWTSatoTravel for the past 10 years.

The FedRooms program benefits the U.S. government by presenting hotel options that comply with government policies related to cost, safety requirements, and more. CWTSatoTravel demonstrated that it could continue to meet the requirements of the program and build upon the quality service it has provided, while incorporating industry best practices and program innovation to meet government needs.

Under the new contract, CWTSatoTravel will further evolve the FedRooms program to drive additional savings for government clients through a two-tiered lodging program. Tier one will focus on preferred hotel agreements in the top 100 domestic and top 10 international destinations, which represent 50 percent of the U.S. government’s hotel spend. This will help ensure property availability and best value in close proximity to government facilities and in high volume destinations in support of official business. Tier two of the program will address all other destinations outside of top markets with property or chain-level agreements capping rates at or below per diem.

CWTSatoTravel will focus on developing innovative solutions for aggressive growth in the government lodging market; and will work to implement a new sourcing strategy to build upon the strong level of savings already achieved through the GSA FedRooms program.
